All Efforts Work Toward a Community Vision

Successful children, strong families, and a healthy community.

The Community Vision Council Vision

We envision the Elgin area as a proud community where its residents work together to embrace diversity and develop innovative solutions resulting in healthy and successful families that are the building blocks for safe and vibrant neighborhoods.

A Community Vision Council (CVC) identified the issues in our area and established goals to create lasting change. The CVC acts as the United Way of Elgin's policy advisory group, helping to develop and maintain the United Way's overall impact strategy. The focus of change is on Education, Income and Health, with the ultimate goal of successful children and youth, strong and stable families, and quality, affordable healthcare for the community.

Education, Income, and Health Impact Councils pinpoint multiple targets essential to achieve the CVC's vision. Each impact council is strategically working -- addressing one target at a time. Impact Councils release Request for Proposals (RFP) for programs that address the targets Impact Councils have identified that will change community conditions and improve lives. Funding is open to all qualified nonprofits that meet United Way of Elgin's standards of accountability.

Now more than ever, the United Way of Elgin is focused on the community's most pressing issues and committed to targeting the underlying causes of these problems and developing strategies and partnerships that support long-term, sustainable change in community conditions. Changing the way, from quick fixes to real, lasting change. That's the work that matters for our community. That's the United Way of Elgin.
